Zenergies: Born Under a Sign is a sensory experience of 12 astrological environments activated by art. We invited guests to walk through and experience the energies of the year while also witnessing the work of 46 talented young artists who ranged from different backgrounds, belief systems, and zodiac placements.
It is important to note that the seasons of the zodiac can be quite the influence on our vibrations, moods, and even decision-making, whether we care to admit it or not. Energy can influence art in this way and art can be formed and felt in more ways than one. Art can be multidisciplinary; not limited to but including visual, audio, and performance that can activate all the senses.
Despite skepticism, the energies of the zodiac must be felt to get through to the other and emerge as a new version of ourselves on every birthday. Despite critique, art is anything that includes the process of creation and change.
We urge audiences to open up their minds to the idea of what art can be, and to not think of the astrological signs so stereotypically, but rather as parts of a whole consciousness. There is always more than one way to express ourselves, and even more ways to view and understand our surroundings. Every birth chart holds with it almost every zodiac sign and can represent that every part of us needs to be embraced, nurtured, and understood. This means that there are parts of us in everyone and parts of everyone in us. To accept this may be very empowering, humbling…or both. You decide.
We invited you to take a deeper dive into what your various placements are hiding. What pieces of work do you find yourselves gravitating toward? What environments do you want to explore? Follow your guide. You may start at the beginning of the year in Capricorn season, or at the end of Sagittarius Season. Whatever you choose, know that you cannot skip. Or can you?
